Russell Tanenbaum is a native of Palm Coast, Florida, where he began dancing at 7 years old. He trained under some of the nation’s top instructors, which led him to land his first job with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as a production dancer. After his cruising tour, he began choreographing for studios across the country.
Russell was invited to train at Broadway Dance Center’s prestigious Professional Semester in New York City. In his final showcase, he was scouted by RWS & Associates and offered a contract with Holland America Line. He completed his tour and returned to Florida, investing his time in traveling, teaching, and choreographing around the world. His art has taken him to 24 countries and 4 continents.
In pursuit of further growth, Russell trained in Israel and Italy under Ohad Naharin and members of the Batsheva Ensemble, studying the Gaga Movement Language. Following his callback with the Batsheva Dance Ensemble, he attended the Kibbutz Dance Company’s summer training program.
He is now the proud Owner and Artistic Director of Artflux Dance Lab, a concert dance training program based in Novi, MI. Russell teaches company class for Detroit’s Eisenhower Dance Company, has recently set work at Oakland University in Rochester, MI, and has launched his own performance company, The molecUment Ensemble. Most recently, he was named a finalist for the Dance Educators Collective Choreographers Cup in Nashville, TN.
Russell has created a life of art and discovery, receiving knowledge and inspiration from many, and looks forward to continuing to share his vision with all who surround him.
