Curriculum

The Conservatory exists for dancers who have made a decision; not just about dance, but about the kind of artist they intend to become.

Training here is structured, rigorous, and deeply personal. Every dancer works under the direct artistic supervision of Russell Tanenbaum, whose commitment to each dancer's development extends well beyond the classroom. Technical mastery and artistic identity are not separate pursuits here. They are built together, in the same room, through the same work, over the course of a full season.

The curriculum spans the full range of concert and commercial dance disciplines. These are taught not as isolated techniques but as a cohesive artistic language. Each dancer's schedule is constructed individually, in conversation with the Artistic Director, to reflect their goals and the trajectory of their development. For dancers at the highest level of the program, that training extends into the Ballet Collective; a dedicated classical variation program rooted in the full rigor of ballet technique. Additional pointe work, variation study, and the refinement that only classical training demands.

The season culminates in two major productions, a Winter Concert and a Spring Concert, both fully realized artistic works performed for a public audience. These are not showcases. They are the standard we hold ourselves to, made visible.

The Conservatory is available both in-studio and fully remote. Virtual enrollees participate in live-streamed classes, individual coaching sessions, and master classes with the same direct access to the Artistic Director and the same expectations as in-studio training. Geography is not a barrier to serious work.

Admission is by application and audition. Prospective students are encouraged to reach out directly to begin the conversation.

Additional Training Programs

Daytime Program:

For homeschool and flex-schedule dancers

The Daytime Program runs three early afternoons each week and is available to dancers whose schedules allow for additional training outside of evening hours. Immersive technique work, phrase retention, choreographic exploration, and guided study of renowned company repertoire, and more. It is a deeper dive into the work for those who want more of it.

Daytime Program participation is supplemental to, not a replacement for, evening Conservatory commitments. Enrollment is coordinated directly with the Artistic Director.
